Independence Day

Here's hoping everyone had a safe and relaxing 4th of July weekend. The Pelican Inn showed off its pride:

The Pawleys Island 4th of July parade was fantastic. Here are a few pictures taken outside of the inn:

Dinner Time

Mid-day dinner is one of our favorite traditions. Served later than the typical lunch, it is the largest meal of the day and is a great reward for a ‘tough’ morning of relaxing on the beach. We serve Southern style food, incorporating local ingredients such as fresh seafood or produce from the farmer’s market.

Here are two recent menus for the curious:

fried chicken
boiled shrimp
red rice
green beans
custard cornbread
cucumbers and onions in vinegar
chocolate fudge pie with vanilla ice cream

baked ham
potato salad
deviled eggs
roasted asparagus
yeast rolls
banana pudding

leave room for dessert!

Summer's Here!

It's First Week here on Pawleys Island and that means The Pelican Inn is officially open for the summer. We're so excited to have a full house and have enjoyed welcoming our first guests of the season. Rooms are quickly filling up for the summer so we recommend booking now. Looking forward to meeting you!

The best of both worlds

Those unfamiliar with the Pelican Inn often ask if there is direct beach access. Our answer is an enthusiastic yes. In addition to the marsh dock across the street, there is a boardwalk at the front of the inn that goes through a live oak "forest" and out onto the beach. So our guests can easily watch the sunrise from the beach and the sunset from the marsh dock. The best of both worlds indeed!

your walk to the beach is shaded by beautiful live oak trees
on the other side of the live oaks you find the beach...
and a comfy hammock!

A few photos

It's been a while since we've posted (we've been enjoying the new website), but since many parts of the US are experiencing cold wintry weather, we thought it was time to share some bright photos:
